The Department of Social Science and Public Affairs

As a regionally accredited university of the State University of New York, Empire State University's Department of Social Science and Public Affairs offers degrees in two registered areas: social science and public affairs. We also offer a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and security studies.

Public affairs degrees offered:

• Bachelor of Professional Studies
• Combined B.A./B.S./B.P.S. in Public Affairs / M.A. in Community and Economic Development

Criminal justice and security studies degree offered:

• Bachelor of Science

Students will develop analytical and communication skills, increase their understanding of foundational and advanced concepts and disciplinary methods to support their goals as, together with their mentor, they create a degree program to meet their specific needs.
